Harvest Services

Thoroughly enjoyed the Harvest Services at Martyrs today.

This morning Rev. David Linden (retired, formerly minister of Portglenone FPC) took Ruth chapter 2 as his text and teased out some fascinating insights re Ruth and her kinsman redeemer. The Gospel application sitting on the surface of this passage was extremely well presented.

By the way, Rev. Linden has just released another little publication, this time on the subject of the Reformation. Very timely, given the fact that Reformation Sunday is coming up next week.

Tonight we had a visit from Mr. Callum Webster, representing the Christian Institute. Considering the issues that his organisation continually deals with, Scriptures such as Galatians 6:7 are incredibly appropriate: "... whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." Sadly, our nation has sown the wind, and is destined to reap the whirlwind. May God step forward in a mighty intervention and transform our sorrow into joy!

Good singing was a feature of both morning and evening services – Victoria Salt and Karla Gregg ensured this.
