Reach Belfast Youth Camp 2016

A total of 30 from Reach Belfast set off on Friday 2nd December for White Park Bay Youth Hostel. The young people were from, Martyrs Reach and Taughmonagh Reach. The theme of the weekend was ‘Courage’ and was based on the life of Joshua. Joel Harrison, Jeff Hammond and Phil Hartin taught on various aspects of Joshua’s life. When we arrived at the North Coast we had our first Gospel Challenge Time, when Phil introduced the campers to the theme of the weekend. On Saturday morning Jeff brought another part of the life of Joshua to the young people. Campers were given a Photo Scavenger Hunt challenge to complete in Coleraine town centre in the afternoon, then in the afternoon played plenty of games and sports in Coleraine Leisure Centre, which seemed to go down well. That night a campfire was set up on White Park Bay beach, where both leaders and campers were able to enjoy some smores! When we came back from the beach a great discussion time was had with the young people regarding what they had heard but a lot of other brilliant questions were asked as well about, for example, salvation, heaven and hell. We had our last gospel challenge time on Sunday morning were Joel brought the final thought of Joshua’s life, and left the campers with the choices they could make. Overall, a blessed time was had at camp, with relationships being built between leaders and young people. We have much to praise God for as there was much interest shown from the young people towards the gospel, but also with one young girl who told us became a Christian in her room with a Christian friend who led her. Please pray for all these young people, but particularly this young girl and the others who seemed to be searching for the truth. Thank you to all those who continue to pray for the outreach to youth and children in Belfast city. “Have I not commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” Joshua 1:9.
