Our New 'Welcome Wall'

Even though it was to be the last gathering of the 'Little Ones', moms and tots group for this season, the toddlers attention was still where it always had been throughout the year.

Yes, the many brightly coloured toys, the Wendy houses, the tricycles, the prams and the push me pull yous, in the centre of the floor, these alone were the focus of the toddlers attention.

For the mums, some dads, for the childminders, the workers and the toddlers themselves, Thursday the 9th June was to be a party day at the Little Ones Moms and Tots Group held each Thursday morning in the Martyrs Memorial Jubilee Complex.

Yet this week was different.

A large wall at the end of the hall where the toddlers were playing was catching the attention of the adults, who stood around chatting with one another.

One would normally expect to see a scriptural text on the wall of a church or church hall, and yes it was the words of a scriptural text found in Jonah 2:9, "Salvation is of the LORD," that was the focus of the adults attention.

Just as it was in Acts 2:6 when "every man heard them speak in his own language," so it was for these parents and guardians, they each could read the text in their own language. Russian, Romanian, Lithuanian, Spanish, and Polish, all followed on after the English, each national being able to read this portion of Jonah 2:9 in their mother tongue.

The keen and enthusiastic workers of the 'Little Ones' group came up with the idea for the text on, the hitherto blank wall.

The toddlers being so young may never even have taken it under their notice, and why should they, when so many coloured and cuddly toys are calling for their attention, but we are thankful that the moms, dads, and childminders of these kids, took notice.
