The Dawn of the Day of Deliverance

I am delighted to be able to witness the dawning of the day when our United Kingdom has voted to leave the European Union.
This Brexit represents an astonishing achievement, and has defied the combined might of Westminster, the Establishment, the bankers, big business, and the scaremongering, threatening speeches from Europe and America.
Please join with me in giving thanks and praise to Almighty God for this deliverance.
While we take no personal pleasure in prominent politicians being compelled to fall on their own swords (David Cameron has already fallen on his and we expect it will not be long before Jeremy Corbyn goes the same way – and despite all the bombast, Nicola Sturgeon will eventually find there is one for her too), we are reminded that God is still on the throne.
As our old hymns put it:
Crowns and thrones may perish,
Kingdoms rise and wane,
But the church of Jesus
Constant will remain:
Gates of hell can never
'gainst that church prevail;
We have Christ's own promise,
And that cannot fail.
So be it, Lord; Thy throne shall never,
Like earth's proud empires, pass away.
Thy kingdom stands, and grows forever,
Till all Thy creatures own Thy sway.
Let us press onward, because this "day of good tidings" requires us not merely to celebrate but to consecrate ourselves to the solemn task of praying for a mighty revival of true God-fearing religion within our country.
